Privacy Policy
Ivory is a browser-based tool for practicing jazz and piano chord voicings. This policy explains what data Ivory handles and how. Plain version: Ivory keeps your practice data on your own device by default, and only stores anything on a server if you choose to create a cloud account.
What we store on your device
By default, Ivory runs entirely in your browser. Your progress, streaks, XP, settings, and best scores are saved in your browser's localStorage on this device. This never leaves your device unless you create a cloud account. Clearing your browser data erases it.
If you create a cloud account (optional)
If you sign up with an email and password, Ivory uses Supabase to store:
- your email address and an encrypted password (for signing in),
- an optional display name you choose,
- your saved practice progress, so it can sync across your devices.
That's it. We do not collect your real name, address, phone number, or payment details. You can play as a guest and never create an account.
MIDI devices
Ivory reads note input from a connected MIDI keyboard using your browser's Web MIDI API, only after you allow it. This happens locally in your browser to detect the notes you play. Ivory does not record or transmit your playing.
Analytics
If analytics is enabled on the hosted version, Ivory uses a privacy-first, cookieless analytics service (such as Cloudflare Web Analytics or Plausible) to count page views and basic usage. This does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personal information. No cookie banner is required because no tracking cookies are set.
What we never do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not show third-party ads.
- We do not use tracking cookies or cross-site trackers.
Children
Ivory is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not create a cloud account. Guest play stores data only on your own device.
Your choices
- Play as a guest to keep everything on your device.
- Delete your local data by clearing your browser storage for this site.
- To delete a cloud account and its data, contact us at the email above.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
